Outlaw Effects and Vic Nadata Present

Ipswich

Ipswich

While searching through his father’s belongings after his death, Cornelius Hobbs came across a book. The book was battered, with pages torn and the ink faded. It’s musty odor filled the room as Cornelius opened it. It was a hand written account by the Essex County Magistrate It was a record of the witch trials of the late 1600’s, and the name Hobbs appeared more than once on the yellowed pages!

The information within contained a grim tale. It told of the burnings, the hangings and the imprisonment of more that 500 people.

Cornelius spent the next 5 months typesetting the reprint of the original book. He was drawn to images of the trials and placed them scattered throughout the pages. The quotes he had researched were now the tombstones of the damned placed between the pages. Cornelius reprinted 579 copies of the book. One for each witch damned to hell. It's said the spirit of a single witch lives within each book’s covers.

John S.As many of us know Rick at outlaw effects along with some others, has produced some incredible booktests that go beyond identifying a single word. Outlaw booktests allow us to weave stories, creepy to light-hearted, around themes like insanity, witchcraft and crime.

Although the other aged books pass for the eras they are designed for Vic Nadata has gone above and beyond. Ipswich turns the volume and intensity up several notches where the blurred line between what is perceived as real and what IS real becomes indistinguishable.
The book: The cover has some dings in it and looks like it will need the services of a professional book binder if not handled gently. Inside the cover there is a map of the area around Salem Village from 1692. The pages are chipped with small rips and brown with age. The book was republished in 1933 by the devilish Cornelius Hobbs and is a concise printing from the 1692 volume; these are almost impossible to find now. Through suggestion the spec can smell the burnt musty odor of years past.

The link: There is a direct link with WA and I will only say that it is simple and diabolical and ads to the incredible strength of the presentation. After the reading from Ipswich a second (or the same) spectator can have a reading from WA without picking cards or using pentacles. This is great.

I have handled stacks of antique books from the same era and in all truthfulness if I was not familiar with the cover of Ipswich it very well could get lost among those other old books of forgotten lore. If you are a genuine ‘spooky’ then you NEED this. You, and your audience, will not be disappointed. Creeped out maybe, but never disappointed.

Thanks for reading this fairly lengthy review and I can’t wait to see what Vic Nadata and Roth have to show us next.
Chris D.Wonderful...wonderful...wonderful. From the design layout to the aging technique to the method and finally to the routine itself...Ipswich is the real deal. The book is beautifully illustrated with images from period. And there's a logical tie in with the already perfect, Witches Almanac.
Dennis P.Even by Outlaw standards all I can say is ... WOW! Absolutely a beautiful piece.

So authentic, and so accessible. There are a LOT of possibilities here.

Thank you guys!
Jerome F.When I received Ipswich earlier this week I fell in love with it immediately. You've done a fine job with these books, they really are superb. Every detail from the masterful aging process right down to the damp and dusky scent cards you include, while holding this book it was obvious I laid hands on a piece of real ART that was as functional as it was beautiful.

To say that I'm impressed is a gross understatement.

The tie in to the WA is masterful. I'll definitely be using this. So many ideas are running through my mind at this point it's insane! Everything from astral projection, past life regressions (into the life of the Witch, even convincing the participant THEY might be the victim reincarnated and drawn to the book, performer & resulting experience for reasons of destiny, healing, integration and closure...birthmarks, anyone?), scrying, spiritual geneology, ghost whispering, necromancy, dream & spell work and more...my head is a veritable creative playground for Ipswich now and the victims are my children.

Ipswich is a perfect example of "magic" that inspires REAL MAGICK to happen within us and all around us. Both will be cherished and put to plenty good use!

Thank you guys!
